There are 3 main reasons why we have a small urban garden. The first is that we want to be able provide fresh, organically grown produce to our diners that has been grown only steps from their table.
The second is that we want to create a sustainable food source for ourselves while maximizing our property's space and relish in knowing that we can feed ourselves and others from such a small plot of land .
Finally we have our greenhouse and garden simply because Markus loves to be part of nature's amazing cycle from seed to plate.
In our garden Markus grows: 7 different varieties of Heirloom tomatoes, salads, tomatillos, radishes, artichokes, strawberries, chiles, cucumbers, zucchini, arugula. He also grows many fine herbs such as basil, chives, chervil, dill, luvage, tarragon, Italian parsley and the kitchen herb staples; rosemary, sage, thyme, oregano, bay leaves, mint and marjoram.
On our property we also have a peach tree, a plum tree and fig trees that produce lots of beautiful fruits each year.
